2026-2027 YIS Student Advisory Board
We’re looking for motivated students who can collaborate with peers on subcommittees and projects, teach YIS lessons, share information within their clubs, provide thoughtful feedback on programs, and attend all YIS virtual events, including quarterly meetings. This is a great opportunity to build leadership skills while contributing to a global student community passionate about investing and financial education.
We are currently looking to appoint the following Elected Officer Positions: Student Advisory Board President, Vice Presidents, Secretary, and non-elected Members at Large.
* Please note that you must have served at least 1 year as a Member-At-Large to be nominated for an Elected Officer Position unless otherwise appointed. Priority for elected officer positions will be given to students who have earned the CYIA designation.

Young Investors Society Student Advisory Board Officers
Young Investors Society wants to give every opportunity for a purposeful and enjoyable year by electing officers who will add value to the student advisory board, share experiences, and make meaningful contributions to the organization. Officers and members working together make a great student advisory board.
We want officers who will:
• Be enthusiastic, tactful, and friendly
• Work with all members and give everyone an opportunity to participate.
• Share leadership with many and thereby give others an opportunity to develop.
• Represent the best interests of the group in outside contacts.
• Be dependable.
• Help plan a program for all to enjoy.
• Cooperate with the other officers and committee members.
• Add meaningful content for our monthly newsletter.
• Participation in all major YIS events is MANDATORY (Dollar-A-Day Challenge, Fireside Chats, Stock Pitch Competition, Knowledge Bowl, etc.)
• Student Advisory Board Officers will be responsible for monitoring the NEW YIS Club Officers Discord where club level officers will be able to connect with each other and the SAB officers.
Duties of Officers
Students Advisory Board Officers are highly encouraged to have served as Members-at-Large for (1) year before applying for elected positions.
President: (One Position Available)
1. Preside over all meetings.
a. See that meetings start and adjourn at the scheduled time.
b. Follow the recommended order of procedure.
2. Cast the deciding vote when there is a tie.
3. Be familiar and able to give feedback on all YIS programs.
4. Be familiar with the duties of other officers and help them when needed.
5. Guide the meeting and encourage all members to take part.
6. Communicate with Chief Operating Officer as needed.
7. If you must be absent from a meeting, notify the vice‐president who presides.
8. Supply YIS newsletter with emergency content if other members forget to submit.
Vice-President: (5 Positions Available: East Coast, West Coast, Midwest, Asia, International)
1. Learn and be prepared to assume the duties of the president.
2. Preside at meeting when president is absent.
3. Assist other officers in arranging and conducting feedback.
4. Be familiar and able to give feedback on all YIS programs.
5. Be familiar with the duties of other officers and help them when needed.
6. Communicate with Chief Operating Officer as needed.
Secretary: (One Position Available)
1. Keep the records of the club in a permanent form.
2. Take attendance at all meetings.
3. Take minutes of all meetings.
5. Send meeting minutes to Chief Operating Officer.
6. Call the meeting to order if both the president and vice‐president are absent.
Members at Large: (Non-Officer-Unlimited Positions Available)
1. Be familiar with basic YIS programs.
2. Enjoyed their experience with YIS.
3. Be able to provide feedback as needed.
4. Help with the planning of future events.
5. Supply YIS newsletter with content on an ongoing basis as assigned.
6. Attend/Participate in all major YIS events (Dollar-A-Day Challenge, Fireside Chats, Knowledge Bowl, Stock Pitch Competition, etc.)
7. Communicate with the Chief Operating Officer as needed.
8. Members-at-Large will be responsible for communication with clubs in their region, connecting them with the Student Advisory Board. This will include distributing information or answering questions about the YIS Curriculum and programs (Dollar-A-Day Challenge, Stock Pitch, Fireside Chats, Knowledge Bowl, etc)
9. Members-at-Large have the opportunity to sit on topic specific subcommittees. These subcommittees will be established at a later date and Members-at-Large will self-select into the subcommittees. Subcommittee Team Leaders will be appointed.
