The Young Investors Society Global Youth Investment Summit winners from the Global Stock Pitch and Case Study Competition each won a Summer internship at an investment firm.

“This summer, I had the amazing opportunity of working as an Equity Research Analyst for Ethos Investment Management. I was able to explore the world of emerging markets investments, learn alongside a supportive team, and gain more insight into potential future career paths within finance.
While I had never researched international equities before, having the chance to delve into the Vietnamese market was enlightening. My knowledge of investing beforehand boiled down to U.S. equities, so being able to learn about another country’s macro trends, industry drivers, and markets was extremely engaging. During my internship, I analyzed a Vietnamese consumer goods company. I was tasked to dive into their growth drivers and business model, coming out with a much greater understanding of both Vietnamese businesses and successful models for consumer goods companies. Personally, I found that my background in marketing was helpful in comparing and contrasting the benefits of my company’s business model versus those of the competition. Examining what consumer needs my company discovered and fulfilled, both in Vietnam and internationally, was a perfect opportunity to blend both of my backgrounds in business.
I would like to thank the Ethos team for all of their support, and especially for trusting me to complete such an important task. Thanks to them, I was able to learn several new skills and apply myself to real-world investing situations. I picked up on nuances from other members of the team during our research calls, learned how to build segmented growth projection models, and developed a new multi-layered approach to investing that led to a deeper understanding of my company. Overall, it was a great experience and I could not recommend it enough. The team was always available to help, actively sought our ideas on other companies, and immersed us in their wonderful work culture throughout the internship.
Young Investors Society gifted me a phenomenal opportunity to expand on the knowledge I had built from the club and the Global Stock Pitch Competition. YIS has helped me explore the financial industry, learn about meaningful careers, and build a valuable network of genuine, kind people. As I start my college journey, I am eager to carry the values I have developed from Ethos and YIS into the next chapter of my career.”
