Below you can read Shriraghav’s experience at Boston Common Asset Management.
“I am excited to share that I recently completed my internship at Boston Common Asset
Management as a Financial Analyst Intern. This experience has been invaluable, and I am
deeply appreciative of receiving this opportunity. Through this internship, I learned both
technical skills to improve my future investments, but also access to practical mentorship with
industry professionals.
One of the most influential lessons I took away from this internship was the importance of
asking the right questions. Coming into the role, I was focused on sharpening technical skills
such as financial modeling, valuation, and research. While those skills are undeniably important,
I quickly realized that the real differentiator lies in the questions you ask. The ability to
understand and identify what truly drives a company’s value and think critically about risks and
opportunities proved to be a skill that significantly improved financial analysis.
Furthermore, the team at Boston Common was instrumental in this growth. They introduced me
to new valuation methods, but also provided constructive feedback and consistent support,
ensuring that I was improving every step of the way. The experience was both practical and
collaborative, grounding my learning in real-world applications, and providing me mentorship to
sharpen my professional development.
Beyond technical skills, this internship gave me a deeper appreciation for the thought process
behind investing, how to connect data, industry trends, and sustainability considerations into a
cohesive investment thesis. It was an environment that challenged me to think bigger while
providing the tools to do so effectively.
I am also deeply grateful to the Youth Investor Society for providing me with this opportunity and
others, such as the Global Stock Pitch Competition. Through YIS, I have not only gained
invaluable knowledge but also built lasting friendships with peers who share the same passion
for finance. This internship strengthened my investment and analytical abilities, and also shaped
the way I approach investing, with curiosity, critical thinking, and a commitment to asking the
right questions.”
