Internship Highlight-Samriti V.

The Young Investors Society Global Youth Investment Summit winners of the Global Stock Pitch and Case Study Competition each won a Summer internship at an investment firm.

Below, you can read Samriti’s experience at Ethos Investment Management.

“This summer, I had the opportunity to complete an investment internship with Ethos Investment Management, where I
gained firsthand experience researching a company and thinking about it from an investor’s
perspective. My main project focused on Eastroc, a Chinese beverage company known for its
energy drinks and growing presence in the Chinese market.

Throughout the internship, I researched Eastroc’s business model, growth, market position, and
financial performance. I also looked at factors such as its distribution network and opportunities
for future expansion. I was introduced to investment tools such as discounted cash flow analysis
and comparable company analysis, which helped me better understand how investors evaluate a
company. My final presentation kept these ideas simple and focused on the overall investment
case rather than highly technical financial analysis.

At the end of the project, I presented my research directly to James Fletcher, the founder of
Ethos. I explained both the potential strengths of investing in Eastroc and the risks that investors
should consider. One of the most exciting outcomes was that my presentation helped prompt
Ethos to schedule a meeting with Eastroc to learn more about the company and its analytics.
Seeing my research contribute to a real conversation made the experience especially meaningful.
Before this internship, most of my exposure to investing came from competitions and learning
about finance academically.

This experience showed me how those concepts can be applied to an actual company and presented                                                                                      to someone working directly in the investment field.
It strengthened my interest in finance, investing, and business research while also teaching me how
important it is to communicate complicated information in a clear and understandable way.
I am very grateful to Young Investors Society for giving me the opportunity to turn what I
learned through the Global Case Study Competition into a real-world internship experience.”
