YIS Internship Highlight-Tanish M.

The Young Investors Society Global Youth Investment Summit winners from the Global Stock Pitch and Case Study Competition each won a Summer internship at an investment firm.

Below, you can read Tanish’s experience at Ethos Investment Management.

“I am excited to share that I recently completed my summer internship as an Emerging Market Equity Research Analyst at Ethos Investment Management. This experience allowed me to explore new aspects of finance, collaborate with industry professionals, and gain a deeper understanding of how the industry operates.

Prior to this internship, my experience was limited to researching and investing in U.S. equities. I had never explored emerging markets but was eager to learn how investment philosophy and strategy shift in an international setting. During my internship, I was assigned to research an electronic manufacturing company in India, where I analyzed its business model and growth drivers. Initially, I found it challenging to understand the company’s operations and financials, given the differences in coverage and structure between emerging market and U.S. equity research. However, asking questions and learning from the Ethos team helped me overcome these challenges.

A key skill I developed was building three-statement financial models and creating revenue segment growth projection models from scratch. Combining financial modeling with business analysis allowed me to view investments more holistically, balancing both qualitative and quantitative perspectives. Presenting my findings to the team not only sharpened my analytical skills but also improved my presentation abilities. I am especially grateful to the Ethos team for fostering a supportive environment where I felt welcome and encouraged to grow. It was an honor to receive constructive feedback and guidance on how to further strengthen my research.

None of this would have been possible without Young Investors Society. Being part of this wonderful organization over the past two years has helped me unlock new skills and opportunities while building meaningful connections. I’ve gained lifelong financial knowledge and made great friends along the way. I leave this experience with more confidence in my abilities and greater motivation to continue my learning.”
