The Young Investors Society Global Youth Investment Summit winners from the Global Stock Pitch and Case Study Competition each won a Summer internship at an investment firm.

“Being a virtual intern at Advisory Group for Life has definitely been such a memorable and educational experience for a rising senior like me trying to decide what part of finance I want to pursue as a career. Talking to Mr. Barrus about career options, learning about his path to where he is now, and simply getting advice for applying for jobs in finance was definitely a big highlight for me these past couple of weeks. Every session was something new, and whether we were learning about investment buckets, talking about factors that affect the stock market, or even presenting our pitch, getting to sit down and talk with like-minded high schoolers was so much fun. Every single day started with all of us researching and talking about interesting industries we had read about, an article that caught our eye, and so much more, and I loved these parts of the meeting because I got to learn so much about how others view the stock market. For many people, stocks might just look like long portfolios and numbers, but what I like so much about it is the different factors that come into play in determining a stock price, and how things like supply chain problems, foreign conflicts, natural disasters, and so much more can have a big impact. I loved how everyone in my group had very unique views, and it made me want to read even more about what they were talking about, sparking more curiosity. After this internship, I feel so much better prepared for my future and how I budget my money, as we talked about the buckets people keep aside for retirement, and it really made me realize the different options I have to start investing in now so I can worry less in the future. I loved how we got to even make a plan for a fake customer because it felt like I was a real-life financial adviser.
From discussions about the World Cup to presentations on financial planning, I am so grateful I was given this opportunity and am so blessed by Advisory Group For Life for having me!
