The Young Investors Society (YIS) Global Stock Pitch Semi-Finals, sponsored by NASDAQ was held at the NASDAQ headquarters in NYC on May 17, 2019. YIS students flew in from across the globe to attend the competition. One Texas team from Bellaire High School competed in the event with 18 other teams from across the country, along with teams from Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Australia.
Four teams moved on to the Global Stock Pitch Finals held at New York University including the Bellaire High School team of David Bournet and Saumya Jhaveri who placed second in the competition. The competition was fierce and everyone did an exceptional job!
Young Investors Society currently provides after-school financial literacy programs to over 250 high schools across the United States including chapters at Westlake, Agoura, Oak Park, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, and Oxnard High School. YIS teaches students to create life-changing habits to save and invest for the future and hopes to expand its current financial literacy program to other areas of Ventura County.
